As Bell County proposes to make in a change in how residents could potentially cast their ballot, voters are being asked to attend a public hearing.

The hearing, scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m., is part of the application process for a proposed countywide polling place program in Bell County. The program would make it possible for residents to vote at any polling location in the county on Election Day.

Officials say the program is designed to make voting more accessible and convenient for voters.

“We will take a variety of factors in consideration as we look at the maps and try to identify locations,” said county judge David Blackburn. “Things like accessibility to transit services, density of population to certain areas.”

Under the program, the county would also consolidate the number of voting locations.

The county hopes to have the program ready for the March primary elections.

Across Central Texas, Coryell, Lampasas and McLennan counties have already been approved for the program.

The meeting takes place at the Bell County Courthouse in Belton.
