Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church partnered with Killeen Mission Soup Kitchen to provide free meals to the homeless a day after Thanksgiving.
Deacon Eugene Barrett said it’s important to give back to the community year-round, not just on Thanksgiving.
“It’s important that we do this, seven days a week,” he said.
“We want to let them (the homeless) know that we’ll be there for them today and everyday after.
More than 100 meals were prepared and distributed to the homeless.
Volunteers from both the church and the kitchen cooked the food and served it on their own time and money, as no outside donations and payments were given for the event.
