Family and friends held a vigil honoring the late Will Ames on Saturday afternoon.Ames was killed in a hit & run accident on Jan. 13th.

For Ames’ brother Julius Miles, the loss of his brother is still shocking.

“I never would have thought my brother would be the first one to go out of all of us,” he said.

Everyone shared memories of Ames’ personal faith and many talents, including one particular art, his Christian rap music. Spreading a positive message all over social media.

“He’s a big inspiration,” his sister Jasmine Miles said.

“His favorite saying was stay positive and be happy.”

Staying positive is only the beginning for his family. While Copperas Cove police have already arrested the suspect, his brother says Ames’ death never should have happened in the first place.

He says that if Urbantke Lane had more sidewalks, stop signs and speed bumps, his brother might still be alive.

“Especially since people got kids walking on this street to go to school, you don’t know what could happen on this street,” Miles said.

A petition for safety upgrades to the street will be presented at the next city council meeting on Jan. 21st at 508 S. 2nd St. at 6 p.m.
