Waco PD now accepting applications for Junior Police Academy

This junior academy will not make students certified peace officers, but they will have the chance to learn from them.
The Waco Police Department is now accepting applications for their Junior Police Academy. It is an opportunity for high school students who are interested in one day becoming a part of the Honored Blue Line.
For two weeks in the summer, students will train with officers in several different fields within the police department. SWAT training, ropes course, Standardized Field Sobriety Test training, and team building exercises are all included in the itinerary as well.
Although the junior academy will not make students certified peace officers, they will have the chance to learn from them.
In order to apply, students must be in high school, not have any criminal offenses higher than a Class C misdemeanor, and must not be on probation or parole.
Eligible applicants must fill out a form and either mail it or submit it in person.
The Waco Junior Police Academy will begin June 10th and last through June 20th.
