The New York Knicks appears to have narrowed down their search for a new head coach.
Knicks president of basketball operations Leon Rose has Tom Thibodeau at the top of his list of potential coaching candidates, Shams Charania and Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic report. The team is aiming to make a decision within the next few weeks, and Thibodeau is one of several big names that have been linked to the job.
From @ShamsCharania and I: The Knicks have a timetable emerging for their head coaching search and Tom Thibodeau is the leading candidate, sources tell The Athletic. More info on all that and who else could get an interview here: https://t.co/kxqsKiAPo6

Thibodeau hasn’t coached in the league since being fired from the Minnesota Timberwolves back in January 2019.
The idea that Thibs is the front-runner isn’t exactly new or a complete suprise. Thibodeau has been close with Rose for two decades stemming from Rose’s time as an agent with CAA, which is the agency that represents Thibodeau.
Thibodeau has long been known as being a defensive minded coach. That’s something the Knicks can surely use going forward. The Knicks have one of the youngest rosters in the league. Not sure if Thibodeau is a great fit for a rebuilding roster.
Whatever the Knicks management team decides, Thibodeau’s name and resume will weight heavy on their next head coach search.
