Cowboys still richest sports franchise in the history of earth

The Dallas Cowboys remain the most powerful sports franchise in the world. No, this isn’t bias shining through, it’s actually backed up by the numbers.

Forbes recently released their annual assessment of the world’s most valuable sport franchises, and for the fifth straight year the Cowboys took home the top spot. The Cowboys are now up to being worth of $5.5 billion, and are up a whole $1.4 billion on the next most valuable NFL, the New England Patriots, who come in at No. 7 on the ranking.

The top five are as follows:

Team Worth
1. Dallas Cowboys (NFL) $5.5 billion
2. New York Yankees (MLB) $5 billion
3. New York Knicks (NBA) $4.6 billion
4. Los Angeles Lakers (NBA) $4.4 billion
5. Golden State Warriors (NBA) $4.3 billion

The NFL continues to dominate the list, as 27 of the top 50 were American football franchises.

The last time the Cowboys weren’t atop this list was 2015, when they were second behind Real Madrid, and worth a measly $3.2 billion, but they have nearly doubled in value in the years since to reach their new mark.

This is certainly a hit to the crowd that believes Dallas is no longer “America’s Team,” as the Cowboys are the only NFL team in the top six franchises, and as mentioned earlier, it’s the fifth straight year with the Cowboys on top. Their games also continue to dominate the ratings market when they are on national television; which is quite often.

Jerry Jones investment of $150 million in 1989 looks better and better with every year that passes.
