Waco animal shelter offering free adoptions after taking in 100 new pets

90-6

The Humane Society of Central Texas is offering free adoptions from now through Veterans Day, Nov. 11 to manage the huge number of animals that have come into the Waco Animal Shelter in the past two weeks.

The shelter said that 100 new animals entered the shelter in the last week, resulting in the shelter reaching capacity.

The community is encouraged to foster and adopt animals as soon as possible to prevent the euthanasia of shelter animals to make room for incoming animals.

“We believe that every Waco animal deserves a chance to live their best life so we are looking for Waco Animal Heroes to help all 165 dogs at the shelter to find homes as quickly as possible!” the shelter said.

The animal shelter said that if you found a stray animal or you can no longer care for your animal, please do not bring the animal to the Waco Animal Shelter. Resources are available to help you keep the animal until you find its owner or until you find it a home.

HSCTX is open 11 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, and until 5 p.m. on Saturdays at 2032 Circle Rd, Waco TX 76706.

“Please remember to wear a mask and maintain social distancing during your visit, and bring your dogs and your children so we can make sure we match you perfectly with your new pet!” the animal shelter said
