On Dec 22., Texas A&M head football coach, Jimbo Fisher, was announced as one of eight finalists for the Paul “Bear” Bryant Coach of the Year Award.

As head coach, Fisher led the Aggies to the 87th edition of the Capital One Orange Bowl against North Carolina.

At the end of the regular season, Texas A&M ranked #5 by the College Football Playoff Committee, Associated Press and Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Finishing on a seven-game win streak, the longest since 1998, the Aggies went on 8-1 against an all-SEC slate; earning their highest victory tally in the conference since joining SEC in 2012.

The Paul “Bear” Bryant Award recognizes the nation’s top college football coaches for their contributions both on and off the field; that recognizes coaches with a winning approach to both coaching, and to life.
