2nd public input meeting on Brazos Promenade set for Monday

promanade
Residents have another opportunity Monday to share thoughts on the design of public spaces associated with the upcoming Brazos Promenade riverfront development.
City Center Waco will host the second public input meeting on the project from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Texas Life Annex, 1000 Washington Ave.
Attendees will hear a summary of initial feedback and learn more about plans for University Parks Drive and proposed spaces for the Waco Downtown Farmers Market, which has used the McLennan County Courthouse parking lot since the city forced it to temporarily move from its riverfront location to make room for the development. About 75 people attended a meeting last month, when developers showcased pedestrian safety, landscaping and urban design.
Construction for the development’s first phase is set to start in October and is expected to take two or three years, said Megan Henderson, executive director of City Center Waco, a planning nonprofit the city created.

The city council approved public incentive money for Catalyst Urban Development after talks that started publicly in December 2015. The development, on land the city is leasing to Catalyst, could include a full-service hotel and restaurant, a restaurant and music venue, mixed-use residential space, park-like areas and more.

Input from the meeting will be taken to Catalyst Urban Development engineers, Henderson said.
The first phase will not include the hotel and restaurant. Plans include three new buildings, a new farmers market space, and a parking garage for the hotel, which will also include public spaces.
The development area stretches from Jackson Avenue to the Interstate 35 frontage road along the river and from the river to Second Street along Jackson Avenue.
