
Three Central Texas districts are canceling classes as flu-related absences rise.The Fairfield Independent School District will be closed Friday and Monday, Superintendent Jason Adams said.
“Unfortunately the flu bug has shown up again and has taken aim at our students and staff,” said Adams.
Classes will resume next Tuesday.
The Teague ISD, meanwhile, is canceling Friday classes as well as Friday night’s basketball game.
Students were released at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Buckholts ISD and Friday classes have been canceled, the district said in a Facebook post.
“Our custodians will be able to go through every room and deep clean to minimize further spread of the illness that is going around. School will resume on Monday.”
A school meeting scheduled from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. for district employees and for the public from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. has also been canceled, the district said.
