Employee at local H-E-B tests positive for COVID-19

H-E-B announced Monday evening that an employee who worked at the South Valley Mills Dr store in Waco tested positive for COVID-19.
In a statement H-E-B says, “A partner who was confirmed positive for COVID-19 was last in the store on April 20, 2020. All Partners at the location have been notified and the store has been deep cleaned and sanitized multiple times since then.”
The store says they are still practicing social distancing.
This is the second time a Waco H-E-B employee has tested positive for the virus.
Earlier this month an employee from the Wooded Acres H-E-B tested positive for COVID-19.
Supermarket employees, who are considered essential workers, are at heightened risk for COVID-19, particularly in places where residents aren’t required to wear masks in public places.
H-E-B has taken a series of steps to protect its workers.
In early April the chain said it was providing all of its employees from the warehouse to the checkout counter with protective masks and gloves this weekend to use while at work.
Employees must continue to observe social distancing guidelines, wash hands frequently and use hand sanitizer, the company said.
H-E-B earlier designated an employee in each of its stores as a COVID action manager whose job it is to ensure those requirements are being followed.
H-E-B also installed Plexiglas partitions at check stands, implemented metered entry into stores, developed guidelines to manage customer traffic and placed decals on floors to identify proper social distances.
