“Let’s join other cities across the nation standing up against police brutality and social injustice,” the Facebook flier said.

At one point, there was more than 300 people at the protest who took a silent knee for 8-9 minutes in honor of the time George Floyd spent on the ground with an officers knee on his neck.

“This is not an issue of ‘black vs white’ but of humanity and those fighting for change,” organizers said.

Another protest in Killeen on S. Ft. Hood Street was planned for Sunday at 7pm called “Let’s Move.”

The organizers said on Facebook “this is a peaceful protest and march. Bring your mask.”

Protests and anger over the death of George Floyd spread to dozens of cities across the country this weekend. The 46-year-old died in police custody in Minneapolis after an officer pressed his knee on the man’s neck during his arrest last Monday.

Derek Chauvin, the officer seen kneeling on Floyd’s neck, was arrested on murder and manslaughter charges on Friday. He and three other officers involved in the incident have since been fire by the Minneapolis Police Department.
