The nonprofit organization Meal on Wheels is now supplying seniors in need with weekly frozen meals.
Every Monday registered seniors are able to pick up several frozen meals for the week.
They will also be provided with a special meal from One Thirty-Five Prime.
Since the start of the pandemic, the restaurant has donated meals every week for seniors.
The meals help keep food on the table for James Mimms and his wife.
“My wife is disabled and I am retired so this helps with feeding us especially when you are on a set income,” Mimms said.
Meals on Wheels Executive Director Debbie King says the organization has served more than 50 new clients since the start of the coronavirus pandemic and they are eager to serve more seniors in need.
“We currently have taken everyone off the waitlist and are continuing to serve,” King said.
“We also check up on them, we call them doing the weak, its great time to make sure the seniors are getting fed while they are staying at home.”
Seniors in need of Meals on Wheels services may call (254) 752 0316.
