Eight students who are part of Inspiración, a new early-childhood education program, at Alta Vista Elementary graduated Thursday night.

Inspiración launched last year and partners with Waco ISD and Transformation Waco.

Their goal is to help children be pre-kindergarten ready by providing free classes for mothers and children ages 0 to 3.

The classes are free and are taught in both Spanish and English.

The first group of four-year-old students graduated Thursday night.

They will be moving on to Pre-K at Alta Vista Elementary.

The goal is for the Inspiración teachers to track their progress until the kids are in 3rd grade, ensuring they are staying up to speed with reading and writing.

At the graduation ceremony they also honored the mothers in the class because they play a vital role in their child’s success.

The Inspiración board says enrollment for the program is growing so quickly, they might not hold next year’s graduation in the cafeteria at Alta Vista Elementary.
