The documentary centered on Russell Simmons’ alleged sexual misconduct allegations isn’t even out yet and is already stirring chatter. Oprah Winfrey’s attachment to the project doesn’t sit well with some members of the Black community.50 Cent blasted Winfrey for focusing on the Black sexual predators when there are more white sexual predators who have been publicly shamed. “No Harvey Weinstein, No Epstein, just Micheal jackson and Russell Simmons this sh*t is sad,” Fif wrote on social media.

The Simmons family has been on mute about the allegations but Angela Simmons broke her silence in an interview with Bossip. “I’m going to stand by my family. I’m not going to get in between all of that, it’s not my place. No one wants to see their family getting hurt. He has daughters.” She added: “My uncle knows what he’s done…but I don’t necessarily want to shine a light on that.”

Fifty isn’t the only one shocked by Oprah’s target. Russell spoke out on social media last week. “Shocking how many people have misused this important powerful revolution for relevance and money,” he wrote on Instagram. “Maybe you should name your documentary ‘FLAVOR OF LOVE’!? In closing, I am guilty of exploiting, supporting, and making the soundtrack for a grossly unequal society, but i have never been violent or forced myself on anyone.”

It is clear that someone has it out for OT Genisis following his “Never Knew” remix of Keyshia Cole’s hit single, “Love.” Cole seemed to have no issue voicing her opinion on OT Genisis’ remake of her classic single. “I’m okay, but I’m really trying to get back to my music. So I would like my classics to be left alone. Is that wrong as an artist to say?” said the singer amongst her One on One With Keshia Cole panel. “How am I gon’ get paid when you makin’ new lyrics and you ain’t sent me out a check or anything like that? I don’t even know how that thing goes. And then people hitting me up saying’ like, ’Oh, I would never listen to Keyshia Cole’s song the same.” The crip themed song seemed to be all fun and games when it first released but the joke seemed to be over for the “Push It” rapper once his short-lived music video was taken down from Youtube. “I love everybody, I mean, that sings my songs. I done had Cardi sing it, sing my songs. He did it on Valentine’s Day, Bruno Mars was singing it. Trey Songz singing it in the club. But they keep my lyrics the same.” Cole stated. Keshia Cole’s boyfriend, Niko Khale offered a new perspective on the matter. He states that those that are heartbroken will listen to Keshia’s version of “Love” and those that want to hear “gangster sh*t” will listen to OT Genisis’ version of the song. “I think it’s kinda hurtful a little bit, too, as an artist because there was no, ‘Hey, how you doin’. How you feel about this?’ ‘Cause that’s what you do if you are an artist. If I wanna remix a Prince song Imma go to Prince and figure out if I can use that. Or if I wanted to use, like how I did “Let It Go” and I re-did that,” she continued. OT Genisis posted the clip of Keshia’s comments on Instagram with the caption “Damn Keyshia, it’s like dat? I thought u were from da Bay? I thought it was California love. A n*gga can’t have fun no more lol.”
