In honor of Black History Month, students at Little Lambs Learning Academy have been learning about different African American figures who have made history and today the kids brought those figures to life.

“They learn a little bit each day and also the parents are able to get involved and help the children with their posters and their costumes for the historical characters,” said Joyce Thomas, owner of Little Lambs Learning Academy.

On Thursday, the Killeen Branch NAACP ended Black History Month at an event featuring these special characters.

“The NAACP had issued a list of 28 things to do in the month of February and so one of those things was to attend a Black cultural event in the community,” said TaNeika Driver-Moultrie.

Students dressed up and portrayed their very own history-making character.

“Martin Luther King Jr., he was a hero, a leader, a speaker, a man of great courage and wise,” said Conor Everett during his speech to his class.

The Killeen Branch NAACP members were special guests of the event to honor the 110th birthday of the NAACP.
